Position Description

Classification: ANU Officer 4 (Research)
Salary Package: $47.99 - $51.93 per hour
Terms: Casual (non-ongoing)

The Research School of Management, in the ANU College of Business and Economics, develops responsible and resilient leaders with the knowledge, skills and capabilities needed to make a difference to organisations and society. Our unique approach to management education is informed by relevant, important and impactful research that addresses the challenges of managing in a complex, rapidly changing and uncertain world.

In support of this vision, the School is seeking to recruit casual Research Assistants to support research projects within the School, conducting literature reviews, data collection, and qualitative and quantitative data analyses.

About the role:

We are looking for a Research Assistant with particular skillset that can assist our academic's projects:

The project is to convert 378 scanned images (in PDF or JPG format) into editable text files (in either MS Word or TXT format).

Skills and Requirements:

  • The RA should be able to use OCR software to convert printed text from the scanned images and manually type text from any handwritten records.
  • The RA should be fluent in both Danish and English because the scanned images may be in either language.
  • The RA should summarise the conversion process in one A4 page (Times New Roman, font size 12). They should indicate which OCR software they used, the steps they took to convert the images to text, and how they corrected any misspelled or missing words. It doesn't matter which OCR program the RA is familiar with.
  • The converted texts must be analysis-ready, which means that there should be no need to guess any words that the OCR software could not properly convert into text.
